The AI Policy Review Checklist
Pressure-test the AI policy you already have. A four-part review across both domains a complete policy must cover: how students use AI, and how staff (teaching and admin) handle data, which is where the real exposure sits.
About this template
Most school AI policies only govern half the school.
They cover the academic domain, how students use AI and what counts as integrity, and stop there. The professional domain, how teaching and admin staff use AI and handle identifiable data, is where the legal exposure actually sits, and it is usually the thinnest part of the document or missing entirely. This checklist runs your existing policy against both, plus the things almost no policy has caught up to yet: AI agents on authenticated systems, and the fact that the school stays the data controller no matter which tool it uses. Read each line against what your policy actually says, not what you intended it to say. The lines you cannot tick are your review agenda.
